The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama is accepting applications for a full-time, permanent Official Court Reporter in the Clerk\'s Office in Mobile, Alabama (Announcement 26-05, opened August 25, 2026, and open until filled). The reporter joins a highly experienced team of two other Official Court Reporters in a welcoming, collaborative court environment. Rather than being assigned to a specific judge or case type, the reporter covers a broad range of civil and criminal proceedings before the district\'s various judges, making the verbatim record of proceedings and producing transcripts of the official record. The role is fast-paced and demanding, with scheduled hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The Official Court Reporter reports to the Chief Deputy Clerk, and the position is subject to a six-month probationary period. Applications are submitted through the court\'s employment process using the Application for Judicial Branch Employment (Form AO 78). Pay: $95,454 - $114,546 per year.
